The best products we tested in July: charcoal grills, first aid kits and more

CNN Underscored is constantly testing products—whether charcoal grills, first aid kits, or cooling fans—to find the absolute best in each respective category. Our testing process is rigorous and starts with hours of research to find the best products in each category. Once we’ve created a test pool of products, we field-test and test each product multiple times over several weeks or even months.

This year, we’ve tested dozens of products — from electric toothbrushes to pizza ovens to outdoor security cameras — to find the best products you need to make life better. These are July’s winning products.

Best charcoal grill overall

Charcoal grilling consistently gave us the best results, and the classic Weber Original Premium Kettle Grill is our favorite. The easy-to-use, uncomplicated ventilation makes temperature regulation a breeze and affordable too.

Best fan in general

The Honeywell tower fan has a small footprint and sleek design, a sturdy base and eight speeds, plus it’s quiet and affordable.

Best electric toothbrush overall

Affordable, fully featured, effective and compatible with many types of Philips and third-party replacement brush heads, the Sonicare 4100 is a great way to improve your oral hygiene routine.

Best wired outdoor security camera overall

Ring’s Floodlight Cam Wired Plus gives you the complete package for outdoor security cameras. It has a floodlight with adequate brightness, easy installation, solid video and audio quality, and motion alerts that keep you informed of what’s happening in your home.

Best wireless outdoor security camera overall

Arlo’s Essential Spotlight camera runs on batteries, records 1080p video, can be installed almost anywhere in your home, and is one of the most affordable cameras we’ve tested.

Best sports bra overall

All of our testers thought the ultra-supportive Nike Dri-Fit Swoosh was the most comfortable sports bra they’d ever worn. The soft, breathable, sweat-wicking fabric and simple zip-front design kept everyone comfortable, even during intense workouts.

Best griddle in general

Nordic Ware’s durable, affordable, uncoated aluminum pan outperformed more expensive griddles in our tests and stayed flat without warping, even above rated temperatures.

Best rice cooker in general

The Zojirushi Neuro Fuzzy consistently had the best results in all of our cooking tests. It cooked perfectly fluffy rice every time and has useful features that make it a must for people who regularly cook and eat rice.

Best pizza oven overall

The only electric pizza oven we tested, the Breville Pizzaiolo, was our favorite oven overall for its predictable, consistent results and even cooking.

The best cloud storage app overall

During our testing, we found the Microsoft 365 Personal plan from Microsoft OneDrive to be the best choice for personal cloud storage if you don’t use Apple devices.

Best first aid kit overall

An easy-to-use ring binder design, high-quality products and all the supplies recommended by the Red Cross ensure you have everything you need and can find it when you need it.

The MacBook Air M2 is the best Apple laptop for most people, perfect for daily multitasking and lots of gaming and visual work. It’s the fastest laptop for the money, and especially a major upgrade if you’re coming from an Intel-powered Mac.

Best Windows laptop overall

The Dell XPS 13 has a beautiful, lightweight, slim and highly portable design for working anywhere, a nearly borderless display that makes content stand out, and a powerful 11th Gen Intel processor that can handle most workloads with ease.
